ABOUT THE TOUR

From the Broomielaw to the SECC and from Pacific Quay to Kingston rediscover the old docks and quays that lined the River Clyde. Learn what types of vessel operated from each quay and where they went. Marvel at pictures of what the docklands used to look like and how their architecture has changed.

You will discover what happened to the remains of St Enoch Station, what lies beneath the piers of the Kingston Bridge and where the General Terminus was and what it was used for.  You will see the remains of tunnels, dry docks and shipyards and learn how “the Clyde made Glasgow and Glasgow made the Clyde”.

Bring your own bike or use one of our Nextbike city bikes as we guide you down one side of the Clyde and back up the other, pointing out key buildings and structures related to Glasgow’s famous shipbuilding past.
